PE Kit Expectations
Dear GA Families
This year will be an exciting year for PE at GA. We are introducing many different exciting activities and are expanding our enrichment opportunities to give our students the very best experiences. To ensure students are equipped for the activity they are participating in at all times, we will now require all students from Y7 to Y10 to bring their full GA PE kit to every lesson. This will include:
- GA polo top
- Black bottoms
- Red socks
- Trainers
- Football boots
- Shin pads
- Gum shield
All items are listed as compulsory items in the GA uniform policy. Arriving fully equipped gives students the very best chance of success in their PE programme. Year 11 students will be informed of their kit requirements in lessons.
The appropriate sports kit is essential to ensure students safety when participating in sport. PE kit also allows for students to change back into their school uniform if weather conditions are unfavourable.
We are aware, however, that there are rare occasions when a student is not able to take part in their sport lessons due to illness or injury. If your son or daughter has to be excused from taking part in the competitive element of their sport lesson, our school policy requires the PE teacher to be supplied with a letter with information about the ailment. Please note, we will not be able to accept phone calls to the reception for exemption from PE. Students are still expected to participate in the lesson, taking on a variety of other roles which may include: scorer, umpire, analyst or coach; so, they continue to develop excellence in sport. To keep their school uniform clean and dry for the rest of their lessons, every student excused from sport will be required to change into their PE kit and join their lesson (unless medical exemption states otherwise).
In order to maintain these expectations, students not fully equipped for their PE lessons will be required to borrow spare kit and be issued with an after-school detention as their PE kit is a necessary part of their school uniform.
We would also recommend, due to the change in weather conditions through the winter, that students bring an additional item to carry any muddy footwear home.
Yours sincerely
